Introduction¶
Aeon Assistant is a chat interface for AI agents. It streams everything an agent does to the user in real time: its answers, the tools it runs, its reasoning, and the questions it asks the user.
The project focuses on the user interface, provided as an Angular library. It also provides Spring Boot libraries that serve your agents to that interface, with ready-made integrations for Spring AI and Koog.
Components¶
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Angular Library | The <ast-assistant-chat> component and the AssistantService that talks to the backend. |
| Spring Integration | Spring Boot auto-configuration that serves your Spring AI or Koog agents over the API. |
| REST API Specs | The contract between the two. Implement it to use the Angular library with another backend. |
Features¶
- Real-time streaming chat over server-sent events, with markdown rendering.
- Agent activity: tool calls, intermediate text and model reasoning are shown as they happen.
- User interaction: agents can stop and ask the user questions with the
ask_user_questiontool, shown as question cards. - Multiple agents, with an optional agent selector in the UI.
- Persistent sessions with full chat history, titles generated automatically, and renaming, closing and deleting.
- Multi-user access control: each session belongs to its owner, who can share it with other users.
Getting started¶
- Add the Spring integration to your Spring Boot application and declare an agent.
- Add the Angular library to your Angular application and point it at the backend.
- Secure the
/assistant/**endpoints in your application.
To try it without writing any code, run the demo application.
